Answer
The essay on adolescence definitely changed my understanding of the world and it did challenge many of the assumptions that I had. Since I am a young mom, at the time I was struggling with finding how I should balance my needs and my childrens needs. I assumed I should try what my friends and family were doing since they were also young moms, some with more experience than I. After contemplating the benefits and outcomes of my friends and families life style, because of this assignment, I was able to make a sound decision of how my lifestyle should be in order to benefit my family and myself.
The observation assignment illustrates how I grew in this class by showing that I understood the concepts that were taught. This assignment required us to go to a child care facility to observe children of the age we were studying. Even just by exposing myself to a new environment, helped me progress as a future teacher by allowing me the opportunity to talk with teachers that spend time with children on a daily basis (this is important because I want to pursue a career in elementary education). The only way I was able to create a good observation assignment was by studying strategically, and taking notes on the concepts I thought I would need for the observation to be a successful one. This assignment is proof that I did sufficient work to prepare for the observation.
Both assignments demonstrate my learning in a number of different ways and concerning different aspects of my life. I believe that when something is learned well, one can apply what they have learned in multiple situations, this includes on a social level. By applying what I learned to my social life, my lifestyle, my career path and ultimately to the potential I have as the person I strive to be, these assignments are proof that they have helped in teaching me to be successful in a variety of levels in my life.
